A Glimpse into the Small Details Encountered Along the Ride

It’s impossible to go on a bike ride without getting lost in the little details of the surroundings. As I’ve mentioned several times, since I started cycling, the common thread connecting each ride has been my desire to expand my sense of exploration. Even short rides in familiar places offer the perfect opportunity to take a closer look at details I would have otherwise missed.

Today, as I set out for a short ride, I couldn’t help but stop to photograph some of the elements that inspire me while cycling in Sicily: the rocky coastline, the quaint fishing villages, rural farms just a stone's throw from the shore, and cliffs towering over hidden inlets.

My plan for the daily ride was to reach the small town of Terrasini by following the coastal road through the fishing villages—about 35 km from Palermo. On Sundays, it’s common to cross paths with countless local cyclists enjoying a leisurely ride, pausing at cafés for cappuccinos, and getting lost in the jaw-dropping views of the sea. This, to me, is the essence of "morning meditation."

The route is ideal for cyclists of all kinds, especially for those looking to spend a Sunday morning pedaling along the coast without venturing too far from Palermo.

In closing, every ride offers a chance to reconnect with nature and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Whether it's the sound of waves crashing against the rocks, the scents of the Mediterranean, or the camaraderie shared with fellow cyclists, it’s these small details that turn a simple ride into a memorable journey. So, grab your bike, embrace the adventure, and let the coastal views inspire you as they have inspired me.

-Mike.
